Remote Workforce

A Remote Workforce encompasses all of the entities involved in the manufacturing facility in addition to shop floor workers. Greg Lake explains how Shop-Trak takes into consideration additional personnel like designers, engineers, equipment manufacturers and more whose costs all need to be accurately recorded to best harness the power of SyteLine.

So often data collection systems only consider those workers out on the shop floor. Yet most companies have engineering and design people that need to be able to track their own time and effort. In addition equipment manufacturers typically send people on-site to install, setup, and test equipment for their customer. These people need information as well as those on the shop floor. The big difference is it’s not practical to punch a clock to record their time, like their shop floor brethren use.

Consider engineers. They could be working on the design of one piece of equipment for one customer, get pulled into a meeting about another, return only to take phone calls about resolving an issue with another customers’ product, finding short periods of time in between to return to the original equipment design.

These people need a way to charge their time, so that costs and profits are ultimately known, without the constant need to punch in and out of work throughout the day. As mentioned earlier, most data collection systems do not consider this type of worker, forcing them to use the same punch in and punch out method as shop floor workers. Shop-Trak adjusts to the needs of the worker, so those who cannot punch a clock have a fast and easy method of recording time and effort, whether they are local or in the field. Easily fitting the system to the needs of the worker is what Shop-Trak is all about. The result is speed and efficiency with a user interface that is fun, engaging and intuitive.
